Don’t You Know the Queen’s Routine?
She’s up and washed by eight – and mustn’t be late.
Bring her breakfast on time, she eats exactly at nine.
It’s to the garden at ten, with ten sturdy men, where she brushes the red dragon’s teeth.
Eleven’s the hour she tends to the flowers that grow in her favorite rose garden.
By noon she’s famished, so bring her some cheese.
And at one she’ll be ready for court.
By two she’ll be listening to maids and gents fair, who please her with tales of adventure.
She has crumpets and tea promptly at three.
She bowls with the butler at four.
At five she revives and gets dressed in her finest blue gown,
For its dinner at six then a trip to the flicks to watch all of her favorite shows.
And by seven, good heavens, where has the whole day gone?
For by eight it’s late and now time to retire, we mustn’t delay one hour.
Never knock on the door – let the little queen snore as she sleeps so serene, in the kingdom that rests once more.
